Thanks for all the positive comments we have been receiving about the blog.

We have now added a "links" department in which we will link the Matlock Rec Club's blog to other informative or relevant sites about the area. You'll now find links to:
- a government site giving extensive factual info about Donnottar;
- the old Dunnottar Station Museum; 
- the Artists' Wave Tour and
- the Whytewold Emporium, a local favourite place to go for wood-fired pizza, freshly made crepes, gardening supplies, jewellery and fresh garden produce during the summer.  

We have also added the ability to subscribe to our blog posts either by your choice of feeder or e-mail. Just click on the "subscribe in a reader" icon at the top and it will let you choose your preferred option.

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Marjorie (Marj, Margie) Meisner, who passed away suddenly in her home on Monday, March 27, 2017. Marjorie will be missed by husband Ron, and everyone who knew her. She always had a smile for everyone she encountered. Marjorie (on the right) playing the ukulele. Marjorie is best known for her musical talents. She loved to sing, and played the guitar, the tin whistle, and the ukulele--probably others, as Marjorie's life was greatly enhanced by her musical connections. Marjorie loved to gather with friends and was a member of the informal music group that meets at the Matlock Rec Club. Do give Ron Meisner a hug when you see him.

December events at the MRC

December is always a busy month at the Matlock Rec Club. On December 3rd, we've got Breakfast with Santa from 9-11 am. There will be a Silver Collection. December 10th is our annual Christmas Dinner & Dance. Tickets are $27 for members and $30 for non-members. Cocktails are at 5:30 pm. A roast beef dinner will be served at 6 pm. Tickets are available from board members or by calling Randy Benedictson at (204) 389-2394. December 31st, we will be having a New Year's Eve Social from 8 pm until 1:30 am. Tickets are just $15 per person and are available by calling any board member or Dave and Sandy Lobban at (204) 389-4980. We wish you and your families a very joyous holiday season--in any way you choose to celebrate. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and all the best for 2017.
