Summer has finally arrived in Matlock!  Hallelujah!  Which reminds me. The tickets for the Sisters of the Holy Rock are almost all gone. If you want to go and still don't have tickets, call Darlene at 389-3593. She may still be able to get you in. It's a steal at $12 per person.

We're looking for volunteer cooks to help with the car rally on July 11th. If you'd like to help, call Adam or Ann at 389-5611. 

We have a fabulous patio fire bowl that we are selling tickets for as a fundraiser. The draw will be held at our "Hi Neighbour" Day on August 15th -- just in time for those cooler fall nights that will eventually find us.  The fire bowl is on display at the hall and tickets can be purchased on Friday nights during bingo and other hall events. It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Marjorie (Marj, Margie) Meisner, who passed away suddenly in her home on Monday, March 27, 2017. Marjorie will be missed by husband Ron, and everyone who knew her. She always had a smile for everyone she encountered. Marjorie (on the right) playing the ukulele. Marjorie is best known for her musical talents. She loved to sing, and played the guitar, the tin whistle, and the ukulele--probably others, as Marjorie's life was greatly enhanced by her musical connections. Marjorie loved to gather with friends and was a member of the informal music group that meets at the Matlock Rec Club. Do give Ron Meisner a hug when you see him.

December events at the MRC

December is always a busy month at the Matlock Rec Club. On December 3rd, we've got Breakfast with Santa from 9-11 am. There will be a Silver Collection. December 10th is our annual Christmas Dinner & Dance. Tickets are $27 for members and $30 for non-members. Cocktails are at 5:30 pm. A roast beef dinner will be served at 6 pm. Tickets are available from board members or by calling Randy Benedictson at (204) 389-2394. December 31st, we will be having a New Year's Eve Social from 8 pm until 1:30 am. Tickets are just $15 per person and are available by calling any board member or Dave and Sandy Lobban at (204) 389-4980. We wish you and your families a very joyous holiday season--in any way you choose to celebrate. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and all the best for 2017.

Welcome to the new blog of the Matlock Recreation Club

Greetings Everyone and Happy Spring! The board of directors of the Matlock Recreation Club are happy to welcome you to our new blog serving the communities of the Village of Dunnottar (Matlock, Whytewold, Ponemah) and northern portion of the R.M. of St. Andrews. Dunnottar is located along Highway 9 approximately 63 km (42 minutes) north of Winnipeg. We have a beautiful swimming beach at Matlock, several stores and restaurants and plenty of smiling faces to welcome you. We also have a variety of recreational events at the Matlock Community Hall (located at 77 Matlock Road at Grant Street) the base for our activities.
