farewell to Donnie Alexander

The Matlock Rec Club lost a wonderful friend on Friday, September 18, 2015, when Donnie Alexander passed from this world.

Donnie really loved dogs and is pictured here with Hero, who will miss him tremendously.

Donnie was a great supporter of the MRC and all community events. He started the Walking Club several years ago, sat on the MRC Board of Directors for the past five years, and volunteered in many capacities including playing Santa Claus at our Breakfast with Santa and selling raffle tickets.

Donnie always had a great big smile, and was known throughout the community as having the best tan in town!

We will all miss Donnie tremendously. Here are a few more photos that will undoubtedly bring a smile too your face.

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Marjorie (Marj, Margie) Meisner, who passed away suddenly in her home on Monday, March 27, 2017. Marjorie will be missed by husband Ron, and everyone who knew her. She always had a smile for everyone she encountered. Marjorie (on the right) playing the ukulele. Marjorie is best known for her musical talents. She loved to sing, and played the guitar, the tin whistle, and the ukulele--probably others, as Marjorie's life was greatly enhanced by her musical connections. December events at the MRC

December is always a busy month at the Matlock Rec Club. On December 3rd, we've got Breakfast with Santa from 9-11 am. There will be a Silver Collection. December 10th is our annual Christmas Dinner & Dance. Tickets are $27 for members and $30 for non-members. Cocktails are at 5:30 pm. A roast beef dinner will be served at 6 pm. Tickets are available from board members or by calling Randy Benedictson at (204) 389-2394. December 31st, we will be having a New Year's Eve Social from 8 pm until 1:30 am. Tickets are just $15 per person and are available by calling any board member or Dave and Sandy Lobban at (204) 389-4980. We wish you and your families a very joyous holiday season--in any way you choose to celebrate. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and all the best for 2017.
